Basic Fire Pit & Fire Bowl Safety Guidelines

We have provided some basic guidelines for the safe use of fire pits, fire bowls and other fire units. These are not intended to be the only guidelines to be taken into consideration for the safe use of a fire pit, and are provided for educational purposes only. Always use good judgment when adding an outdoor fire element to your outdoor space, as well as good judgment when using it.
  • When considering adding a fire pit or other fire element to your outdoor space, you should always consider safety first, this is the best way to ensure that your experience with your new fire pit will be as enjoyable as possible!
  • When starting a fire in your fire pit, use flammable fire starters with great care to avoid injury to yourself, others around you and to your property. Keep fire starting accessories out of the reach of children. Never leave children unattended with a fire pit or fire element.
  • Since fire pits, bowls and other fire elements stand above the ground, always be careful not to allow tipping over of the item to avoid fire hazard.
  • Never over load your fire pit with wood; building too large of a fire in a fire pit that is not designed for such use may result in damage to you, your property and to the fire pit. Be sure to read all information about the size and use of a fire pit before selecting one, to make sure that the fire pit is appropriate for your intended use. Always read the manufacturers materials before using your fire pit for the first time to ensure optimal use.
  • Always check with your local government entities regarding compliance with local codes and ordinances.

Choosing Your Fire Pit-Versatile, Functional Outdoor Decor

Fire pits are versatile,  functional outdoor decor, and aside from the aspect of providing a fiery focal point for entertaining, they can also be used for heating your patio, deck or surrounding area of the pit, as well as for cooking foods.

When choosing a fire pit, or fire component, you should take into consideration what you may want to use the fire pit for. While all fire pit styles are excellent for entertaining, certain styles and designs work better for certain purposes.

The large steel fire domes are the perfect fire element for sophisticated outdoor entertaining, with their stunning beauty they are also effective in heating the surrounding outdoor space and accommodate marshmallow roasting as well.

Table fire pits are a great choice for entertaining as well as casual use, as they can be used as a table when the fire bowl is not in use, and also provide a flat surrounding surface on which drinks or plates can be placed when a fire is burning. These fire pits are convenient for cooking quickly grilled foods, however most do not provide much heat and are not well suited for BBQ’s or for grilling foods that require long cook times.

If you would like a fire component that will be an attractive entertaining focal point, provide heat, and have the ability to grill any foods you like, steel, bronze or wrought iron fire bowls are your generally your best bet.

When heating your outdoor space is your main goal and you want a beautiful, decorative addition to your patio, deck or lawn without an open fire, a chiminea may be the right choice for you. These fire components are effective outdoor heating, without the use of an open fire, while adding a touch of old world style to any area. Patio fireplaces also fit meet the requirements for these uses as well, providing effective 365 degree heating for the surrounding outdoor space with an enclosed lantern, firehouse or pagoda patio fireplace design.

Regardless of the design or style you choose, your patio, deck or lawn will be exquisitely enhanced with the element of fire. Add a friendly, inviting feel, to your outdoor space with the perfect stunning focal point!
